Bought this on the premise that at least 1 out of the 30 games should be fun. Wow, was I wrong. Of course, I didn't play enough to unlock all 30 games, but the games you play in order to unlock others are awful. For the most part you don't even use the touchpad controller. Seems like a rush job to get a game out for the Wii U console, and Nintendo should be ashamed they allowed the Wii U brand on the label. Save your money, nothing worth playing here.

It was interesting for Nintendo not to launch a sports title to coincide with the Wii U launch, especially given the overwhelming success of Wii Sports with the original Wii. Ubisoft has stepped in with ESPN Sports Connection, which includes some of the sports from Wii Sports (Tennis, Golf, Baseball) and adds a few new ones (Football, Kart Racing, Soccer). I found this game a bit difficult to give a rating to, because there are some part of it that are spectacular, while others don't even rise to the quality of the original Wii Sports.
I'll go through each sport and rate each one.
Tennis:
There are two options here: "Match" or "Cannon Ball". Match works pretty much like WIi Sports tennis, in that you swing your Wii remote to hit the ball, and running is done automatically for you. You also have the option to use the GamePad, in which case you use to touchscreen and stylus to play, similar to tennis games on the DS. I was immediately disappointed by the... Read more

We are having lots of fun with this game. Every sport can be played as a full match and the integration of the new controller is really innovative. Playing simultaneously on two screens (TV and Gamepad) is fun and children really enjoy it. For parents, it is also great to have the Gamepad since you can control your team with the tip of your finger while kids have more physical activity using the Wii Remote Plus. We have played all the six sports in the game and our favorites are soccer, karting, baseball and also the cannonball challenge on tennis which makes playing tennis much more fun than on Wii Sports. On karting you can play up to five players or play by yourself on the Gamepad only. We are already looking forward to playing the game again and having more great Family time during this Thanksgiving!

it's fun, easy to play, and we're having a great time with it so far. The kart racing and baseball are by far the most fun, and the tennis ball machine is nice to play with the new pad.

there are some Wii games (not just old gamecube games) you won't be able to play on this unit. like, games that use a mat. there doesn't seem to be any adapters to connect them, so make sure you check what kind of connection games like that use before buying. from the nintendo site, these games either won't work or will have limited functionality-
Not compatible: Active Life: Explorer Active Life: Extreme Challenge Active Life: Magical Carnival Active Life: Outdoor Challenge Ultimate Party Challenge
Limited functionality: Dance Dance Revolution DanceDanceRevolution II Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Grooves DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 2 DanceDanceRevolution Hottest Party 3 Walk It Out

So, Nintendo's keeping us hyped for their upcoming games and Wii U system, but what could be a better way than re-releasing the Wii for a smaller price than how much it costed back when it launched? Well....being able to play Gamecube games on it. That's right, this is a new unit with the lack of Gamecube controller inputs.
Wanna use Gamecube controllers for Wii games? Too bad. Wanna play Gamecube games? Too bad! Wanna be able to play certain Wii games that utilize the controller inputs. TOO BAD! You aren't going to get any of that with this Wii system! Why Nintendo decided to strip away all Gamecube features is extremely questionable.
If I were you, I'd go get the original Wii, which is perhaps the same price as this dud.

Don't buy this Wii. You're getting screwed if you do. Normally, the Wii is designed to support 4 GameCube controllers, as well as GameCube memory cards, GameCube games and other GameCube accessories. I have a GameCube and it would have been extremely convenient to be able to unhook it. It's pretty bad I have to keep both systems and connect/disconnect them depending on which I want to play because for some reason Nintendo decided to leave out the backward compatibility on this Wii. What happens when my GameCube stops working? I'll either have to buy another GameCube, or different Wii.
You get what you pay for folks. If you skimp on price, you get half the quality. Wouldn't surprise me if it stops working in a month due to cheap internal parts as well. "Limited Edition" means "Cheap Edition". Just because something is "Limited" doesn't mean it's "better". It's probably "Limited" because only a limited number of people will want it. And the ones that DO want it... Read more
